Hire Shopify developers
Liquid, Hydrogen, Shopify Plus, apps
Shopify engineers for stores that have outgrown a marketplace theme: custom Liquid, Hydrogen storefronts, private apps, and the checkout work Plus makes possible.
Shopify removes an entire category of problems: PCI compliance, hosting, checkout security, most of what breaks on a self-hosted store at the worst possible moment. What it does not remove is the work of making the store specific to your catalogue, your merchandising and your operations. That is where a developer earns the rate.
Our Shopify engineers work in Online Store 2.0: sections everywhere, JSON templates, metafields and metaobjects for structured content, so merchandisers can build a landing page without opening a ticket. When a store needs more than a theme allows, they build Hydrogen and Oxygen storefronts in React, or private apps on the Admin GraphQL API for the operations side, inventory sync, order routing, ERP and 3PL integration.
The most common brief is speed. Shopify themes are almost always slowed by apps: five review widgets, three analytics tags, a chat script and a currency converter, each contributing render-blocking JavaScript. The fix is measurement, app triage, and rebuilding what survives into theme code. It is dull work and it is where the revenue is.
When a dedicated Shopify developer is the right call. The store does real volume and there is a merchandising roadmap. Shopify has to talk to an ERP, a warehouse or a subscription system. You are on Plus and want checkout extensibility, B2B or markets configured properly rather than approximately. Or conversion is drifting down and nobody has looked at the front end in a year.
When it is not. If the store is small and the theme fits, put the budget into photography and ads instead. We will say that out loud. If your pricing and fulfilment requirements are genuinely unusual, Magento or a custom build may suit better, though the total cost is considerably higher.
Every engagement leaves you with a theme your own team can edit and documentation for anything custom in it.
What they do
Custom themes
Online Store 2.0 themes in Liquid with sections, JSON templates, metafields and metaobjects a merchandiser can use unaided.
Hydrogen and headless
React storefronts on Hydrogen and Oxygen, or Next.js against the Storefront API, with revalidated product pages and edge caching.
Private and custom apps
Admin GraphQL apps for inventory sync, order routing, pricing rules and reporting, built for your operations rather than for an app store listing.
Speed and conversion
App audit, render-blocking script removal, image and font strategy, and Core Web Vitals measured on your real store traffic.
Shopify Plus work
Checkout extensibility, Shopify Functions, B2B catalogues, markets and multi-currency, and Flow automations that replace manual steps.
Migrations
WooCommerce, Magento or custom platforms moved onto Shopify with data mapping, URL redirects and rankings preserved.

How to hire
Share the store and the roadmapDay 0
The URL, the plan, and whichever number is bothering you: page speed, conversion, or hours lost to manual order handling.
Profiles, plus a free store read48 h
Two or three CVs and, from the URL, a read on app load, theme structure and the two changes most likely to move conversion. Yours to keep either way.
Interview and check a live store2–4 days
Open a store they built on your own phone and look at the network tab. Ask what they would have done differently. No charge and no pressure at this point.
One measurable change firstDays 1–15
A speed fix, a section merchandisers can actually use, or an integration that deletes manual work. Something you can measure before committing to a month.
Theme ownership stays with youOngoing
NDA and IP before the first commit, work shipped through Git into your own store, and documentation for anything custom. Pause on 30 days' notice.
FAQ
Can they make our store faster without removing the apps we need?
Partly. Some apps can be deferred, scoped to the pages that need them, or replaced with theme code. Others genuinely have to stay. We measure what each one costs first and hand you the list with the trade-offs, then the decision is yours rather than ours.
Do we need Hydrogen or is a theme enough?
For most stores a well-built OS 2.0 theme is quicker to run, cheaper to maintain and easier for merchandisers. Hydrogen earns its place when you need an app-like front end, content pulled from another system, or performance beyond what a theme can reach.
Can they build a private app for our operations?
Yes. Inventory sync, order routing, pricing rules, reporting, ERP and 3PL connections on the Admin GraphQL API. Built for you, installed on your store, and not hostage to an app vendor's roadmap or their next pricing change.
How do you handle a migration from WooCommerce or Magento?
Data mapping first, products, variants, customers, orders, then a full URL map with 301s, metadata and structured data replicated, and Search Console watched on both sides of cut-over. Rankings normally hold and page speed improves.
Will we still be able to edit the theme ourselves?
Yes, and that is the point of Online Store 2.0. Sections and metaobjects are built so your team can add and rearrange content without us. Anything custom is documented, and we would rather train your merchandiser than sell you support tickets.
Tell us the role. Profiles in 48 hours.
No retainer to see CVs, and no invoice until the trial ends and you say yes.
