What we do on AWS, and what we talk clients out of

AWS is the infrastructure layer: compute, databases, storage, networking, delivery and the hundred-odd services around them. Our job is to put your application on it so that it can be recreated from a repository, watched from one dashboard, and sized for the traffic you have rather than the traffic in the pitch deck.

Two failure patterns account for most of the accounts we inherit. One is infrastructure built by clicking through the console: nobody can reproduce it, staging does not match production, and the person who set it up left in 2023. The fix is infrastructure as code, Terraform or CDK in git, reviewed the way application code is reviewed. The other is over-architecture. Kubernetes and six microservices for a system handling four hundred requests a minute, at roughly ten times the cost and complexity it needs.

So we start from your numbers. Most applications we host sit on ECS Fargate with managed Postgres, a CDN and a queue. Boring, cheap, and a two-person team can operate it. Kubernetes is the right call when several teams deploy independently, and we run plenty of it. Serverless suits spiky, event-driven work and we use it there rather than everywhere.

Cost work is included, not sold as an add-on. Right-sizing, savings plans, storage lifecycle rules, deleting the load balancers nobody remembers provisioning, and fixing the data-transfer patterns that quietly cost the most. On inherited accounts this usually finds twenty to forty per cent, which is why it is the first thing we look at rather than the last. It pairs naturally with workflow automation and the Node or Laravel applications running on top.

AWS compared with the alternatives

AWS vs a managed platform like Vercel or Heroku

Managed platforms are faster to start and cheaper up to a point. For a marketing site or an early product they are the right answer and we will tell you to stay put. AWS wins on cost at scale, on data residency rules, and when you need a service the platform does not offer. Moving later is a real project, so make the call with a three-year view rather than a three-month one.

ECS Fargate vs Kubernetes

Kubernetes suits several teams deploying independently, or workloads that are genuinely varied. For one application it is a second product to operate. ECS Fargate gives the same reliability with a fraction of the surface area. We have moved more clients from Kubernetes to ECS than in the other direction, and none of them missed it.

AWS vs Hetzner or DigitalOcean

For predictable workloads with no compliance requirement, Hetzner and DigitalOcean cost a fraction of AWS and are perfectly reliable. AWS earns its premium through managed services, regional coverage, compliance certifications and room to grow without replatforming. We build on either and will put both numbers in front of you.

Can you reduce our AWS bill?

Usually. On inherited accounts we typically find twenty to forty per cent through right-sizing, savings plans, storage lifecycle rules, deleting orphaned resources and fixing data-transfer patterns. The saving is reported monthly against a baseline, so you verify it in your own billing console rather than taking our word.

Do we need Kubernetes?

Probably not. Kubernetes earns its complexity when several teams deploy on their own schedule or workloads vary a lot. A single application is usually better served by ECS Fargate. We recommend Kubernetes where it fits and say plainly where it does not, which is more often than most vendors admit.

Can you take over infrastructure that was built by clicking around the console?

Yes, and it is most of what we inherit. We document what exists, import what Terraform or CDK can import, rebuild what it cannot, and finish with every environment generated from one reviewed definition. Two to four weeks, depending on how much of it is undocumented.

What about data residency for our region?

AWS has regions covering India, the United States, Australia and New Zealand among others, and we deploy into whichever one your rules require. Where regulation demands it, the whole path stays in region: database, backups, logs and any AI processing.

Do you provide on-call support?

Yes, on a retainer. Monitoring with alerts routed to a named engineer, written runbooks, patching and backup verification. We restore from backup on a schedule rather than assuming it works, because an untested backup is a rumour.

Can we hire a DevOps engineer from you?

Yes. Dedicated DevOps and cloud engineers are $30/hour or $4,000/month, with a 15-day trial and profiles within 48 hours. They work inside your AWS account under roles you control.
