Custom themes, WooCommerce, ACF, speed
Discuss WordPress development support for the work your team needs. Share the current project, required skills and collaboration hours so the proposed role and relevant experience can be reviewed. Availability and start dates are confirmed after we review your requirements. Use the form to request profiles.
Roles & ratesPublished fees are starting rates. The proposal confirms the named engineer, required experience, responsibilities and final fee. Monthly rates reserve 160 hours; hourly engagements have a 40-hour minimum.
A dedicated WordPress developer can support a publishing website, WooCommerce store or an existing site that needs ongoing engineering care. Start with the current URL, content workflow, theme, plugins and the work your team needs to complete.
The role may include themes, blocks, integrations, performance reviews or maintenance. Identify what must keep working before changing an existing site. Use a staging environment and agreed acceptance checks for updates, migrations and feature work.
Some projects also need a different application layer or framework. A headless approach with Next.js adds responsibilities for both systems. For more custom application logic, compare requirements with a Laravel developer before choosing the role.
Review the proposed engineer’s relevant work and approach to troubleshooting, testing and documentation. Confirm availability, working hours and support responsibilities before onboarding. Agree who approves changes, manages hosting accounts and maintains backups. The engagement should define the first deliverables and the handover information your team needs.
What they do
Custom themes and blocks
Hand-built themes with a real build step, custom block-editor blocks, block patterns and theme.json. No page-builder bloat.
WooCommerce
Custom checkout and shipping logic, product import pipelines, subscriptions, and query work that keeps a large catalogue quick.
Performance and Core Web Vitals
Object caching, query profiling, image and font strategy, plugin triage, and CWV watched after launch rather than assumed.
Security and maintenance
Hardening, least-privilege roles, staged updates with a rollback, malware clean-up, and a maintenance routine your team can run.
Headless WordPress
WPGraphQL or the REST API behind a Next.js front end, with preview, on-demand revalidation, and training for the editors.
Migrations and rescues
Host moves, multisite consolidation and rebuilds, with content and URL inventories, relevant redirects and agreed launch checks.

For WordPress that beats a job description. From the live site we can see the plugin load, the theme, and roughly what state the build is in.

Relevant CVs, plus a one-page read on plugin load, Core Web Vitals and the two or three things costing you most. You keep that whether or not you hire anyone.

Ask which plugins they would remove from your site and why. Agree assessment scope and any work before starting.
Something visibly better in a fortnightDays 1–15
A speed fix, a plugin removed, a template rebuilt, plus a written maintenance and security plan you can keep. Onboarding work is paid. Replacement, cancellation and handover follow the agreed proposal.
A maintenance rhythm that sticksOngoing
NDA and IP before the first commit, staging and deploys in your hosting account, updates on a schedule with rollback. Pause on 30 days' notice.
FAQ
Will they use Elementor, Divi or another page builder?
Only where one already exists and replacing it is out of scope. New work goes into the block editor with custom blocks: less markup, faster pages, no licence to renew. If your editors need to lay pages out freely, block patterns cover most of what a builder gets used for.
Can they clean up a site with too many plugins?
It is one of the most common briefs we get. Audit what each plugin genuinely does, replace the small ones with code, keep the two or three doing real work, and test everything on staging before it reaches production. Nobody removes a plugin on a live site to save time.
Our WooCommerce store gets slow at peak. Can that be fixed?
Usually, and usually without buying new hosting. The typical causes are unindexed meta queries, autoloaded options, an uncached cart fragment and third-party scripts. We measure first and hand you the list in order of impact before anything changes.
Should we go headless with Next.js?
Only when there is a reason: a genuine performance ceiling, an app-like front end, or content shared across several channels. It adds a build pipeline and a second thing to maintain. For a lot of sites a well-built classic theme is quicker to run and cheaper to own.
Do they handle hosting and backups?
They will set up staging, deployment, backups and restore drills in your hosting account, whether that is Kinsta, WP Engine, Cloudways or a server you already run. Hosting stays in your name and the runbook is handed over in writing.
Can they recover a hacked site?
Yes. Containment first, then clean-up, then the reason it happened: an outdated plugin, a shared password, a writable upload directory. We fix the cause alongside the symptom and set an update policy so you are not doing this again in March.
Can you quote a fixed-scope WordPress website instead?
Yes. WordPress Starter starts at USD 849/project and WordPress Business at USD 1,499/project. E-commerce (Shopify / WooCommerce) starts at USD 2,599/project for one agreed platform. These project fees are separate from developer hiring. Compare WordPress development packages for the detailed scope and exclusions.
